I took Math 135 the second semester of my freshman year at Longwood. We learned about what I would consider “practical math”; math that was applicable to real-life scenarios.
This class taught me that math really is prevalent throughout our lives. We were taught about the math behind mortgages, retirement accounts, and credit card balances, to name a few. These are all practical things that we all experience in our lives, and now because of this class, I now have a clear understanding of how these scenarios work.
Below I have attached a paper that I wrote for the class that is a letter to a friend that explains different savings plans and which is the best choice overall.
