Psyc 101: Introduction to Psychology

I have always been fascinated with psychology, so when I learned that I could take this course to fulfill Civitae I was so excited! I absolutely loved this class. It’s hard to pinpoint one major thing that I took away from this class. The artifiact that I chose for this class is my end-of-semester presentation and research paper on Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). We learned about all aspects of psychology in this course, but my favorite by far was the mental disorders and illnesses unit. I suffer from clinical depression and anxiety, so I have always been interested in how the brain functions and why those kinds of illnesses exist. For our final project, we could choose any topic we wanted related to psychology and we had to write a research paper about our findings and present them to the class. Ever since seeingĀ SplitĀ I have wanted to learn more about DID, so that’s what I chose. Researching the myths and realities of the disease was so fascinating to me, and I loved learning more about it.

The presentation below includes the basics on DID, but if you’re interested, I encourage you to look more into it, as it goes so much deeper than what I was able to include in a five-minute presentation.

I have also included my research paper, as it gives a much more in-depth explanation of the information presented on the slides. Research Paper
