Seeing as this was the first time I have ever done research, it was an interesting experience. Since it was my first time and I didn’t know how to do research, this experience changed how I look at it and how I participate in it. I learned to code and how to make a proper survey.
When looking for sources for my research assignment, I first looked at whether the source was from an accredited site, such as a university site or a .gov site. After turning my first annotated bibliography, I ended up having to delete a couple of the sources I previously used because they didn’t fit what i needed, and then had to add different ones to better fit my paper.
For the most part, the man challenge I faced while doing this research was properly formulating the research into papers and making sure they made sense. To overcome this, I would ask my roommates to look over my papers before submitting them and they would help me by peer reviewing them. Another challenge I faced was when we had to use SPSS to code the quantitative data. The challenge I faced was that I didn’t really understand how to use it at first. I overcame this by ask other classmates who better understood how to use it for help. I also spent extra time in the library working with it.
I didn’t really have a confidence problem when it came to the research. I was mainly that I’m really not all that interested in research seeing as though I don’t see myself doing this in the future.
What I think this research means is that we can make a positive change with parents and their young children by giving them activities to do as a family that still educate the children on things they may not know very well.
