Honors Anthropology with Dr. Jordan has been one of my favorite classes at Longwood. Most of the topics we discussed were intriguing. Because this was an honors class, we were allowed to take a few field trips to enrich our learning. The first was a trip to Hull Springs Farm, a farm on the Northern Neck that Longwood owns. While here, we explored various archeological sites and other historic houses, monuments, etc. This really helped to make all of the information we had learned come full circle. It is one thing to here about certain topics and learn them from a book or powerpoint, but it is a completely different thing to be emersed in the atmosphere. Below is (what is left of) the Menokin Plantation house. It was in the process of being restored while we were there. Because of this, there was a lot of scaffolding. The rebuilders gave us permission to explore what used to be the second level of the plantation house.
