I believe that service gives us an opportunity to see things in a new light and to change our perspectives. In high school, I actively participated in many community service projects that allowed me to meet new people and hear their stories, and allowed me to do things that would normally be out of my comfort zone. During the honors retreat, starting off with a community service project reminded me how important it is to actively support and help in our own communities. I hope that during my next three years at Longwood I have opportunities to serve in the community.
