Message from the President

During my first year as Longwood’s president, my confidence in our future has only solidified and grown. Our strengths would be the envy of almost any other institution—strong camaraderie and traditions, a beautiful and ever-improving campus, and a shared commitment to our mission of preparing citizen leaders. Such assets could not be easily created from scratch, yet they are in abundance here.

Longwood’s greatest asset, however, is its people—our dedicated faculty, our accomplished and community-minded students, and our many generous supporters who make possible the distinctive work that takes place on campus every day. On behalf of the entire Longwood community, thank you for your support in 2012-13. Whether your donation provided critical unrestricted dollars through the annual fund or provided direct support to an area such as student scholarships, athletics or the LCVA, you have made us stronger and better.

We approach of our third century at a time of great challenge for public higher education. But we also have great momentum, and a determination both to meet our obligations and achieve our ambitions. I’m particularly proud that Longwood’s 2014-15 price increase will be the smallest seen at any Virginia four-year public university in more than a decade. Amidst much else we hope to achieve, I am determined that a high-quality Longwood education, rooted strongly in the liberal arts and sciences, will remain affordable to students and families.

In the coming years, I hope we can do more, and that we will continue to earn your support. Meanwhile, thank you again for supporting Longwood.

W. Taylor Reveley IV
President
