Writing and Research was a class that I took during my first semester at Longwood. While it was a fairly standard class designed to introduce freshmen to the world of collegiate writing, I enjoyed it. My professor’s dedication to organization was much appreciated as I adjusted to college life.
My first semester at college was significant because mid way through, I decided to change my major from History, Secondary Education to Physics, Pre-Engineering. It was a dramatic change; I had prepared to live and breathe history and suddenly, I was preparing to insert myself into the world of math and science. Suprisingly, this class helped me to make the change. For our final paper, we had to conduct research on the style of writing in our major. As I had switched majors, this gave me the opportunity to learn what to expect in physics and how to accomplish scientific writing.
Below is my final paper that introduced me to the world of scientific writing.
