Letter To Senior Self

Dear Senior Self,

You’re just finishing your last year at the place you’ve so grown accustomed to. As you’re writing this you just finished your first year at Longwood in Wheeler 330. You were terrified of being dropped off on the first day of Honors Retreat and cried the first few nights because you had noone to talk to, not even a roommate. You had never been away from home longer than 4 days, much less 4 months. Your older friends had told you that college was fun, but you sure weren’t believing them as you watched your family leave you behind. But here you are 4 years later, about to graduate.

Longwood (and Hampden-Sydney) grew into a second home and the people you met turned out to be some of the best people you’ve ever known. To the friends graduating with you, they’ve stuck with you over the past few years and you’ve gone through so much together. To the friends who graduated before you, they took you in and showed you the ropes. There were ups, downs, peaks, and pitfalls. But you stuck through it all and pushed on (remember Accounting 242?). Those little memories you made living down the hall from some of your best friends; going out on the weekends, weekdays, and pretty much whenever you had the time; finishing classes and homework then spending the school night over at HSC with a ragtag bunch of guys you can always have a good laugh with.

It’s been hard, but it’s also been the best time of your life. You won’t forget this.
