Chapters 19, 20, & Conclusion
A. Consider all the concepts shared in this book about building better work habits and breaking down bad ones, share at least 2 concepts that will “stick with you” and that you may use going forward in continuing to develop professional skills. Explain your response.
The two concepts that have “stuck with me” and that will continue to “stick with me” are habit stacking and accountability partners. The concept of habit stacking I believe will stick with me going forward because it will allow me to add in the new habit that I am trying to work on. This concept will allow me to continue to develop professional skills because it will allow me to build onto the skills that I already have and improve on them. Habit stacking overall is a great concept because instead of trying to start a new habit by itself, I am able to add it into my routine that I already have that will allow me to start working on the new habit that I have set for myself. It will also be able to tie in with the other concept that has “stuck with me” of accountability partners and making it a habit to holding myself accountable for everything that I am responsible for.
The concept of accountability partners that we learned about last week and discussed I believe would really help me in the continuation of developing my professional skills. This concept I can use within the field with a work colleague that I know that would help to keep me accountable for deadlines that might be due or with this upcoming semester have a study partner that I know that will hold me accountable when it comes to homework and other assignments. I believe that this concept would help me with my professional skills as well as helping me in my personal skills that I might want to work on because they would help to benefit each other in the long run. Overall, this concept of accountability partners will allow me to have that extra motivation with completing assigned activities as well as deadlines and they will hold me accountable if I am not completing everything that I said I would in a timely manner.
