Junior Remote Internship Goals
During my internship, I want to:
1. Learn about types of programs that are provided by a CTRS at SRMC Behavioral Health Unit, and learn how to facilitate, adapt and modify those Recreational Therapy groups based on the patient assessment of needs provided in scenarios from Mentor throughout the program.
2. Develop communication skills including clear, concise details when communicating with my mentor by email, phone call or zoom call.
3. Improve documentation skills according to the regulations of the agency by practicing with scenarios given by my mentor.
4. Improve rapport with my mentor to strengthen my communication skills and network with a professional in the field.
5. Confidently present plans and program ideas to my mentor that could be relevant to the unit population and potentially implemented at the agency based on needs noted by Mentor.
6. Revise patient’s goals on the plan of care based on scenarios and treatment plans given by my mentor
7. Discuss and adjust the progress the patient has made within the program based on real life scenarios given by my mentor.
8. Increase knowledge about the behavioral health population including diagnosis, and commonly prescribed medications used to treat symptoms associated with mental health that can be applied to my future career.
9. Familiarize myself through research about the resources used in education groups for patients at the agency based on scenarios given by my mentor.
1o. Develop a plan of care with goals and objectives for patients specific to their individual needs to improve their overall quality of life based on the made-up case load.
