Children’s work

As a father, one thing I like to do is meet my kids where they are. I write stories for them. Recently a relative gave one of my sons a stuffed raccoon. My son was asking about raccoons and what they do and their lives. I took this as a bit of a challenge to create a story about a young raccoon who had to learn about listening to his parents.

This story was born out of our kids love for Curious George. The story is I wrote is called Consequence Carl and the Garbagetime Adventure. The story is linked here in full as I am not sure I’ll find publication for it.

Consequence Carl is a story about a raccoon who finds himself having to learn about the consequences of not listening to the wisdom of his parents and how he learned a new lesson that even though your parents may not give reasons for their rules, there are still important things to learn.
