During my time at Longwood i have always felt the importance of community around me. One of the main factors that lead me to this university was the smaller class sizes. This was no more clear than in my honor courses, the largest one in size being around 8-10 other students. Building a small community throughout the semester with my fellow students and professors allowed for easier discussion and transitions through the class material at a pace that everyone was comfortable with. Every class session felt less like the typical lecture and more of a discussion of the material. I am a firm believer in community structure that allows a group of people to accomplish massive tasks impossible for one person.
