2. Age is an identity that is assigned at birth, you do not get to change this identity but it does change over time. I think this identity is important because it can challenge what you can and can not do. For example, until you are eighteen years old you can not vote in presidential elections or local elections. I think this identity will help me get everything I desired for my future because as it is said as you get older you will get more experience and grow wiser. This will help because the more experience I get in general or get within my job will help me to accomplish everything I want to do with my career. Gender is not always biological or given at birth, it is shaped by culture or social norms. This is an important identity because it shapes how you are treated at school, work, or in your daily life. This will shape my future because I am a women and I will ultimately get paid less than a man, even with having the same qualifications and working just as hard as them. But with that being said it will make me work harder in my career and allow me to fight for women getting equal pay in the future.
3. Age- Efficacy: Age meets this dimension because people want to feel confident and able to do things no matter how old they are. If they do not have this self concept young kids will feel like they can not do something because they are too old and older individuals will think they can not do something because they are too old. If you have this concept with you always, then no matter how old you are you can do anything you get your mind too. Mattering: Everyone wants to feel like they matter to others and society. But when some kids feel like they are not heard because they are too young and some older individuals feel like they are forgotten, it is hard to think they actually matter. However, if they always carry this concept around with them, then they will never feel worthless or not good enough for society. Self-esteem: This concept is always changing for individuals, depending on how others see them at that moment in time. If someone perceives you as too young/old for them to trust you to do simple tasks then you will also start to think that you can not do these simple tasks yourself. But if you remember this concept and that it is just one persons opinion you will start to understand that you can do anything you put your mind to. Gender- Efficacy: People with different genders are given different amounts of power and opportunities. For example, men are getting paid more and are looked at for promotions more than a women. But this gives more confidence and determination to women to make everything that they want and deserve happen. Mattering: Individuals always want to think that who they are within their gender is valued and accepted. being seen and respected for who you truly are gives you a sense of mattering, which makes them feel more connected within their gender and outside of it as well. Self-esteem: How other people view you can significantly impact your self-esteem. Individuals are expected to act a certain way to fit in with their gender and not look like an outcast. For example, boys can not cry, only girls can do that. However, if someone has positive self-esteem it make them feel more secure and happy with who they are.
