I urge you to support the H.R.2556-Maternal CARE Act.
This Act is important because it provides an opportunity for more women to receive proper care from the practices of obstetrics and gynecology by addressing biases that may prevent women from being treated properly. This Act also provides grants for pregnancy programs that reduce maternal-health outcomes and racial disparities and help underprivileged women gain access to better prenatal care. Prenatal care is especially important because it affects the development of the babies in the womb that determines what they are capable of for the rest of their lives; it is important for the upcoming generations to be able to reach their full potential by being given the environment that is conducive to growth. Babies of mothers who do not get prenatal care and necessary nutrients are three times more likely to have low birth weight and five times more likely to die than babies of mothers who receive prenatal care. Your support for the Maternal CARE Act is critical because this legislation will help mothers who may not normally have access to adequate care to be able to provide healthier growing environments for their babies.
