If you’ve experienced all that Farmville has to offer or just want to get out of town for a day or weekend trip, Farmville is conveniently located near several major cities and vacation destinations:
APPOMATTOX, VA (30 minutes)
Appomattox Courthouse is the site of the Civil War surrender, and today it has many historical attractions. The Official Tourism Site of Appomattox has a list of attractions and places to visit.
LYNCHBURG, VA (1 hour)

SCOTTSVILLE, VA (1 hour)
The Town of Scottsville is on the southernmost tip of Albemarle County. There are restaurants and historical sites, but the main attraction of Scottsville is the James River. Check out the Visit Scottsville website for information on renting kayaks or canoes, and tubing trips down the James.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (1.5 hours)
Charlottesville offers a wide variety of things to do such as orchards, vineyards, a pedestrian mall with shops and restaurants, museums and historical sights, and local breweries. Go to the Visit Charlottesville website for a full list. Charlottesville is also home to the University of Virginia and plays host to many different sporting events and concerts.
NATURAL BRIDGE, VA (1.5 hours)
The Natural Bridge Park has many beautiful and unique sites to see including the bridge and caverns. There are a hotel and restaurants. There is also the Safari Park with a drive-through zoo and giraffe feeding, and the Natural Bridge Zoo offers elephant rides.
RICHMOND, VA (1.5 hours)
The Visit Richmond website lists a variety of activities offered in Richmond. Richmond is home to several sports venues and teams. There is the Flying Squirrels‘ baseball team, the Richmond Raiders‘ arena football team, the Richmond International Raceway, and the Washington Team’s training camp. There is also a Kings Dominion Amusement Park.
WILLIAMSBURG, VA (2 hours)
Williamsburg has a lot of attractions such as Busch Gardens Amusement Park, Water Country USA, Colonial Williamsburg, and Jamestown. The Visit Williamsburg website has information about these attractions and more.
RALEIGH, NC (2.5 hours)

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (3 hours)

WASHINGTON, D.C. (3 hours)
The Official Tourism Site of Washington D.C. has an extensive list of things to do in Washington. There are historical sights and monuments, a wide variety of museums (including the Smithsonian Museums), and a zoo. Washington D.C. is home of the Capitals’ ice hockey team, the Nationals’ baseball team, the Washington football team, and the Wizards’ basketball team.
