The dependent variable is how engaged the family was during the activity based on the respondents’ answers to the question “How engaged was your family in this activity (working together)? Scale of 0-10. 0=Not at all, 10=a great amount.” The independent variable is how much the family enjoyed the activity. This is based on the respondents’ answers to the question “How much did your family enjoy this activity? Scale of 0-10. 0=Not at all, 10=a great amount.” High enjoyment and low enjoyment were separated by putting all groups with an enjoyment of less than 9 in the “Low enjoyment” group and 9 and 10 were put in the “High enjoyment” group. The mean of low enjoyment is 6.167 and the mean of high enjoyment is 8.056. Since p<0.01, there is a significant difference between the means.
