LSEM, or Longwood Seminar, is a course all new students at Longwood are required to take. In the course, we get the chance to learn more about our university and different activities and organizations that are on campus. LSEM allows us to become more familiar with our school and ease our transition to Longwood. LSEM helped me feel more at home at Longwood as I learned more about the university and its values while also forming relationships with my fellow Honors students. LSEM had a required reading: The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore. In this essay, I discuss how the book relates to the values upheld by Longwood students and the people in the book.
