Goal #8: Introduction to Psychology

Psychology was, to be honest, another class that I took mainly to fulfill an objective and nothing more. I had to fulfill Goal 8 somehow, after all. So I chose Psych because I thought it would be interesting to find out how other people’s minds work. In the class, we learned all about various patterns of behavior, as well as mood disorders and childhood development. It was absolutely fascinating, and I loved it.

One of the things we had to do for this class was to take a psychological study on the Longwood database and write up a summary of its process. We called it a Scientific Literacy. Basically, we took the study, wrote up how it was conducted as well as the variables, and explained how successful it was (or wasn’t) and how it could’ve been done better. It was an analysis of the scientific process as well as psychology. This was very good for me, because I learned how to properly examine the scientific method. Also, I grew very adept at skimming a 50-page project to find the highlights (the information that I needed to write down. I always got very good grades on these Scientific Literacies, and they kept my grade up even on the rare occasions when my exams went poorly. I had a lot of fun writing Scientific Literacies, and I learned a lot as well.

This is one of the many Scientific Literacies we had to do (dated November 20, 2017). I always got good grades on these, and I used them to sharpen my analytical skills, as well as skim an article to find the information I needed.
