Goal #12: Introduction to Ethics

I took Ethics over the summer at PVCC, and I brought it over to Longwood for credit. In this class, we examined various ethical dilemmas, including ones such as abortion and euthanasia, and discussed the conflicting viewpoints that people have raised regarding those dilemmas. The class was mainly a lecture class; we took notes on the professor’s lectures and then used those notes for our online tests. It was very interesting to hear all the different viewpoints, even when those viewpoints were ones that I would disagree with.

From this class, I learned the importance of paying attention to everything a professor says in a lecture and writing down EVERYTHING! After all, the more detailed our notes were, the better we would do on the test. If we zoned out during class and failed to write proper notes, we were basically dooming ourselves to bad test grades. A bullet point format has worked best for me when taking notes, as I can write quickly without having to write complete sentences. But the notes had to be as detailed as possible! This was especially true when the professor wrote something on the board; then it would become a MUST for writing down! I am enclosing the notes I took during our class on July 11th as a testament to the note-related lessons I learned during this class.

These are some of the notes I created for the class. This particular set of notes is on abortion. From these, you can see how important note-taking was to the class.
