Hey, guys! I’m Leah Merone, and I’m currently a freshman (well, technically, rising sophomore, but whatever) at Longwood University. I am a member of the Honors program at the Cormier Honors College. I am also an English major, with concentrations in Secondary Education and Creative Writing.

I have always loved reading and writing, ever since I was a child. My dream to be an author began in fifth grade, thanks to my teacher, Ms. McCormick. Basically, she looked at one of my short stories (which was 17 pages long, longer than anyone else’s) and told me it was really good. She said that I could be an author. That same year, I won a short story writing contest, and my dream was cemented.

I hope to be an author someday, though my dad thinks I should take a day job as a teacher. I’m not sure yet. I’m hoping that I’ll have figured it out by the time I leave Longwood. All I know for sure is that I want to leave my mark on the world.
