Goal #11: Fitness Concepts Through Exercise

Fitness Concepts Through Exercise, which is basically Physical Education for college, was not a particularly hard class. You basically just had to show up once a week, do the exercises you were taught about in that week’s online portion of the class, and then you got to leave. Also, there was only one exam (set around midterm time), and after that, you didn’t even have to go to any more in-person classes. It was rather nice. There was, however, quite a lot of online work, including many quizzes. There were even projects, one of which is included on this page.

The main thing I took away from this class was (you guessed it) the importance of keeping active. They required us all to wear a Fitbit, and we had to walk at least 70,000 steps per week (that’s 10,000 per day). We even had to record graphs and things to prove we did it. This, of course, turned out to be a major benefit for me, because I got lots of exercise. I also learned all sorts of things about how to be healthy, including proper eating and how to handle stress. Overall, I think I took a lot out of this class, and I didn’t even have to do a lot of work.

This was a presentation about an experiment I did on mindless eating (dated April 5, 2018), one of the many things we covered in this class. I’ve been trying to apply the information I learned to my own life and cut back on the mindless eating.
