Scholarship

Reflection

Going into college, I was expecting my studies to be very hard, but they weren’t as bad as I had thought. I thoroughly enjoy a challenge, and my course load was exactly that. In High School, I challenged myself by taking all AP and Honors classes, but these courses that I took in my first year were a huge change from High School. I realized that I actually had to study, which was one of my bad habits from High School, but I learned quickly and adapted to the challenges. I really enjoyed the experiences in all of my classes, but my Honors courses were even better. I had the chance to meet interesting people and learn at an even higher level. But, I’d have to say that my favorite course was my Human Anatomy class. The pillar of scholarship means so much to me, because my academics are the reason why I was accepted into the Honors College.

Artifacts

The image I chose for the Scholarship artifact is a photo of a fetal pig’s heart we had dissected in Anatomy class. This photo is significant to my first year’s scholarship experience, because Anatomy was my favorite and most interesting class. I loved the opportunities to do things hands on, just like in this picture; we were able to dissect a whole fetal pig. I had always taken pride in the smaller things because they were more intricate and detail oriented.
