During my time at Longwood I have made scholarship a top priority. I joined a sorority that carries a very high academic standard consistently having the highest GPA on campus amongst the greek life. I worked to keep a high GPA so I could qualify to be within the top 20 percent of my nursing class in order to join the honors nursing association. I also aimed to maintain above a 3.8 in my minor of Biology in order to quality for Beta Beta Beta (the Biology honors society). I served on Alpha Delta Pi’s executive committee which therefore constantly puts me in front of the chapter. I felt that this position required me to be a role model and example of how a member should strive to be like in terms of putting grades and school work first above all else which pushed me to maintain Dean List every single semester. Maintaining a high standard of scholarship allowed me to participate in a highly selective summer nursing externship at INOVA Fairfax hospital. This opportunity laid the groundwork for my foundations as a soon to be nurse by allowing me to work with an RN for six weeks learning her job as well as the many many skills that are required as a registered nurse.
Attached is a copy of the offer letter I received from INOVA when I was accepted into the summer externship program!
