A good survey is one with relevant, well structured, and unbiased questions. It must also be as short and to the point as possible while avoiding questions that are leading or double-barreled questions. For this assignment, my research question is “How do family fun time activities affect parental involvement?”. Specifically, I am interested in how socioeconomic status affects parental involvement. The survey question for my independent variable is “What is the highest degree of education anyone in your household has completed?”. The survey question for my dependent variable is “How involved was your family throughout this activity?”. These are good questions because they are both short and are neither leading or double-barreled while also being relevant and unbiased.
