During an internship I had, I was in charge of many tasks and parts of events for my position as the events assistant. My first two artifacts are pictures of me at a reception dinner that I put together. During my time at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, one of our events called for a banquet dinner and I was in charge of designing the whole dinner. I went on site visits to view the lay out of the venue, I went to visit linen companies to pick out my linens for the dinner, I was in charge of creating flower designs for the center of the tables and ordered those through an outside company, and was in charge of selecting the lights and color scheme for the dinner. This was one of my favorite things to do because I was able to put my designs to life and see my work come together.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Along with setting up the banquet and the designs of the tables, I also had to make the seating chart of where everyone sat. For my second artifact, we had special quests who were attending the banquet who needed to be sat at VIP tables  5-8 and 14-17. Specific scholars had to sit at each table as well as making sure that each type of scholar was represented with a staff member. This took a lot of moving around but it turned out perfect in the end.

 

 

Along with working on designing the banquet, I also had to make the menu and pick the food based off of everyone’s dietary needs which was another one of my tasks for both events this past summer. Working on the menu, I had to contact the food vendor and discuss the dietary needs and make it presentable for the guests.  For both event this summer I was in charge of dietary restrictions for every meal that was put on. I had to go into the registration system and pull all of the information the scholars entered and find the dietary restrictions to make cards for them. These cards where then placed in the back of the name badges for them to place on their place mat to let the serving team know which meal they need.
