I was born and raised in Northern Virginia with one older sister. At the age of 7, my parents had divorced and moved apart leaving my sister and me to grow up in a split house hold. Going into high school, I learned to become very independent, started to learn to be a leader and grew more mature due to my living situation at home. Going through that has taught me skills to help me be very prepared to go off to school and be on my own.
I am now a senior at Longwood University where I am majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations and a Minor in Leadership studies. I chose Communication Studies as my major not really knowing what I wanted to do with it. I started getting deeper into the major and learned about my likes and dislikes and landed on event planning and fell in love with the idea. I landed and internship doing event planning for a non-profit organization and fell even more in love with the field.
Currently I am an aspiring event planner searching for a full-time position as an event planner. I have learned through experience that the most amazing feeling is watching people enjoy the event that you planned and the joy that it can bring to someone’s life. Through my organizational skills and my dedication to any task, I ensure that I have what it takes to become an event planner and want to be able to feel that joy for the rest of my life in the work that I do.
