The Department hosts two annual conferences each Spring: the first (in conjunction with Appomattox Courthouse) on the Civil War, the second (in partnership with Longwood’s EML Department) on the Middle Ages.  In addition, the department’s active role in higher education brings a number of events to campus each academic year.  The Political Science Club has earned campuswide recognition for its Mock Debates.  In Fall 2017 Longwood is hosting the Virginia Philosophy Association‘s annual meeting.
