Biography

Hi, my name is Amy. I was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Growing up in Fredricksburg I made many friends from all walks of life. Through many friends, I made helped me find and define myself. One way my friends have helped me was that they gave me the confidence to join Taekwondo. I am now a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Taekwondo is one of the best things I have done. It allowed me to grow mentally and physically. Taekwondo has helped me come out of my shell and gain confidence.

I was the STAT program in high school, which is was a STEM-based program. The STAT program gave me a place to make many friends and I was able to learn about biology. The STAT program is one of the many reasons I joined the Life STEM program. The STAT program helped make the transition for college much easier. I felt like the LIFE STEM program would also help make the transition to college easier. The LIFE STEM program has helped me make new friends and allowed me to grow as a scientist. The sense of community that I felt in the STAT program in high school can be felt in the LIFE STEM program. This sense of community I believe has helped each one of us grow as people.
