I took Math 171, Intro to Statistics, in the fall of 2018. I had already taken AP Statistics in high school, so some of the information was pretty familiar to me. This class was one of the easier classes for me and I ended this class with a 107.
The artifact that I chose to include was one of the papers that I wrote for this class. I had never written a paper for math before but I actually liked it. I had to write about how I solved a question using a statistical method. Writing the paper allowed me to fully understand why a statistical test should be run. I thought that the written projects even helped me study for tests because I was able to figure out exactly what I understood how to do, versus what I didn’t.
I ended up using this new way of interpreting skills in my other math class, Math 301. I will continue to try to learn equations and formulas this way. I really enjoyed this class and I have thought about trying to become a tutor for it.
