There have been a number of high profile cases now where the sexual assault is recorded and posted online. This article describes how terrible this can be for the victim and how these recordings and other online comments have been used as evidence against the attackers.
Here is a story about the black lash against the University of Colorado that gave rape prevention tips including telling women to vomit or urinate while being attacked as a way to prevent rape. The story focuses on preventing rape by changing a culture accepting of it.
This article demonstrates how intimate partner violence is experienced across socioeconomic class and how women who are wealthy are challenged in obtaining support.

Click here for an article that breaks down how much money a couple would need in order to afford for a woman to “lean in” to her career. The author blithely concludes that if a couple is careful enough, they can save this money in advance, without appearing to recognize that her and her partner’s higher paying jobs allow them the opportunities to save that others don’t have, or that not everyone who wants to move ahead in their careers is interesting in having their children in daycare while they work long hours either.
Obama discussed the Paycheck Fairness Act in his 2013 State of the Union address. The act has not been passed yet.
Full disclosure: This information about the wage gap between the sexes is from The Center for American Progress, which describes itself as “independent nonpartisan educational institute dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action.” The organization is comprised of researchers and policy experts (generally former politicians and former government administrators) and is regarded as leaning more towards the left/liberal side of the political spectrum.
