My name is Alexa Fojtik and I am a senior at Longwood University. I am majoring in English, as well as a published author, with the goals of becoming an editor for fictional novels. Additionally, I am also working towards my goals of opening an independent bookstore. I have a huge passion for all things reading, writing and literature. As an empathetic people-person, I work well with people of all ages, and often times tend to find myself in positions of leadership when working with others.
This portfolio is being created in order to have easy access to the work created this semester, and gives me the opportunity to reflect on the work created and decide what worked well, and what I can improve on in the future. Additionally, it will be a good reference point for potential scenarios in my future that might require me to be familiar with these types of writings, and therefor be able to guide me once again in that process. These assignments have been beneficial to me in numerous ways. Firstly, and most importantly being, many of these topics I had little to no knowledge of beforehand, and definitely had no idea how to approach them. Secondly, the presentations allowed me to gain additional confidence not only in public speaking, but in answering questions quickly, on demand. Lastly, the seven c’s will be beneficial not only in this course, or future courses, but in writing in general in the future. I often times find myself giving too much information, that the point of the writing becomes blurred. Being able to remember to be concise and to the point, will help me in my future professional and personal endeavors.
