Through the production of my rhetorical analysis, the course outcome “understand the nature of public discourse/debate as determined by purpose, audience, and context” really shined. By completing the work prior to producing the final essay itself, I could really narrow down who the speaker was speaking to and why. By knowing those areas specifically, it adds a layer to the meaning behind the piece itself and the message the speaker is trying to convey.
