In order to investigate what is the role and influence of communication and collaboration between caregivers and educators concerning the educational progress of students with disabilities, it would be prudent to develop a framework by which one can consider the overall goal of this project. Additionally, this approach would also prove beneficial in allowing us to visualize critical subcategories and factors that may be connected to and/or arise while attempting to address the topic selected by our group.
To address our topic, our group developed the below research question:
How can improving communication and collaboration between caregivers and educators improve equity in public schools?
Considering this specific inquiry, our group also investigated several questions which arose out of our investigation into this unique and multi-faceted topic.
- What are some of the current obstacles and difficulties which face caregivers of students with disabilities?
- How do these specific obstacles and difficulties impact student success and overall equity in educational institutions?
- How do parents help and hinder their child’s success?
- What are some strategies that can be implemented with parents in order to improve student success and equity?
- Can these strategies be implemented beyond the classroom?
- How will these strategies impact student success and overall school equity?
