1.4: Analyze critically and apply the major principles of organismal biology

My introduction to organismal biology started with Biology 206 – Anatomy and Physiology. That was an intensive course where I learned the main systems of the body and the functions. It was a lot to learn in my first semester.

Then in Integrative Biology I was able to go over more basic principles. It backtracked a bit, but it was good for me to have a basic overview before continuing on with upper level Biology courses. In Biology 315 – Invertebrate Zoology I am now learning about physiology of other animals besides humans. It has widened my perspective to see the vast differences between our physiology and the physiology of invertebrates. There are also some similarities that I did not expect to see. In the lab I study the physiology of varying invertebrates and draw what I see. I would like to do more with studying vertebrates outside of humans and see the similarities or differences to invertebrates.
