Grooming Abuse

Grooming abuse can be defined as the premeditated behavior intended to manipulate potential victims using rewards, threats, or misuse of adult authority. The term has also been used to explain the actions of the perpetrator. Grooming can be broken down into three sections; physical, psychological, and social environment. The grooming process may be a long and drawn out experience, due to the need for the relationship to stay a secret and avoid others’ discovering the abuse.
