Table 2. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) of parental involvement by attendance of Head Start programs
Attendance | Mean Involvement | F-Value |
Often | 8.33 | 0.00*** |
Sometimes | 6.50 | |
Rarely | 9.0 | |
Never | 10.0 |
Note: p<.05*, p<.01**, p<.001***
The dependent variable of this ANOVA was how much the parents were involved in the activity done. This was asked on a scale of 0-10. The independent variable for this ANOVA was how often do the parents attend head start programs. The respondents chose either, “Often”, “Sometimes”, “Rarely”, or “Never”. The mean involvement for “often” was 8.33. The mean involvement for “sometimes” was 6.50. The mean involvement for “rarely” was 9.0. Finally the mean involvement for “never” was 10.0. According to the ANOVA results (F=0.00), there is a significant difference between the means. Therefore, attendance to head start programs does influence parental involvement.
