Discussion and Reflection
Over these two course, I have gained more of an understanding of the concept of institutions, how they correlate to one another, and their overall impact on individuals and society. For both Medical Sociology and the Sociology of Education I was tasked with examining and researching information. In doing so, and in writing on the topic, I believe that I have grown in my abilities to use a sociological eye. Moreover, in the writings, and in the research I conducted for the writings, I found that most other systemic issues are impacted and have the ability to effect one another. For example, those who do not have more than a high school education are more likely to experience health complications later in life and are less likely to have affordable health insurance. I believe that these writings have allowed me to also grow as a researcher. I feel as though I am more confident when it comes to assignments that require extensive research and I am able to better translate this research into information that is useful for my assignments.
