Application Information

All project applications must obtain IRB approval or exemption prior to submission. Students must be involved with the project in some capacity. An explanation of student involvement is required.

The committee will begin accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year on March 1st. All applications are due by 5:00PM on April 14th.

In an effort to review and potentially fund a broader range of projects, the Anthem Grant Committee has two (2) routes available for proposed projects to be reviewed for funding.

Research-based project: This is a research-based project utilizing a formal study designed to identify a health problem for a specific population, based on a needs assessment, and develops, implements and evaluates a health promotion project for the Southside Virginia community. A plan for dissemination must be presented at the time of application and the results of the study must be presented at the start of the following academic year. It requires IRB approval at the time of application and student involvement.

Program-based project: This is a program-based project which identifies a health problem for a specific population, is based upon a needs assessment, and is addressed by a program that is designed and implemented in the Southside Virginia area. A plan for program evaluation must be presented at the time of application and the results of the work presented at the start of the next academic year. If human subjects are a part of the program evaluation, IRB approval must be obtained at the time of application. Student involvement is required.
