Two identities that I find to be the most important are the fact that I am a woman and a lesbian. Being a woman goes with my gender identity and being a lesbian goes with my sexual orientation identity. They translate into what I desire for my future self by influencing my values, sense of belonging, and self-expression.

Sexual orientation and gender meet the different dimensions of self-concept because they are both part of Social Identity. They refer to my membership in both social groups, one being that I am seen as a woman by other women and the other being that I am seen as a lesbian by the LGBTQ+ community. They are also a part of Categorization since I see myself as a member of both of these groups. They both can be affected by self-esteem; homosexual people tend to have lower self-esteem than heterosexuals. Women often have lower self-esteem than men. Being around other women and lesbians and relating to them is shown through efficacy. The sense of mattering is shown within both identities because with being a lesbian, there are always going to be societal norms that can cause you to think “do I matter when I am in this group?”. As a woman, I am always feeling like I need to be useful or needed so mattering definitely is seen with this part of my identitiy.

In my future career, I hope to find a job that I can find meaningful, has advancement opportunities, and has a mission and values that are held high.
