The Common Good Project was a great way to really become an active citizen leader, while applying all the skills that have been learned in the class. For the Common Good Project my group chose to focus on the opioid crisis. In this project we created a website and a brochure to provide education and awareness. After these products were developed a rational statement that analyzed these documents for ethos, pathos, and logos, as well as fallacies was developed. This project was a creative way to address learning outcomes one, four, and five. For this project there was research conducted to provide the proper information. This applies to learning outcome one, as the group had to investigate multiple perspectives on the opioid crisis. Learning outcome number four was addressed through the rational statement aspect of this project, where the group had to analyze the project for the rhetorical situations and tools of appeals. The project addressed learning outcome five by allowing the groups to choose real life issues and apply the knowledge we had gained in the class to the issue and addressing the issue. Overall, the Common Good Project was an interesting way to apply class information and jump start our lives as active citizen leaders.
