In my first three years at Longwood, I have developed greatly in many areas, including academically. Specifically, I have had the opportunity to extend the knowledge I have learned in the classroom to areas beyond the classroom. For instance, I was able to do an extra experiment in my Instrumental Analysis class. In this experiment, I was able to use an X-ray fluorescence gun in order to determine trace elements in bone fragments. These trace elements can give information regarding environmental conditions where the bones are from. This is just one example of the many ways I have been able to perform scholarly work at Longwood.
