The final major assignment of the course was to create a formal report as a consulting company making recommendations to a company regarding their website. My group elected to analyze speech-language pathology graduate program websites and propose changes to a website for a program in-candidacy for accreditation. My group was University Consultants and we proposed changes to Imagination University’s program in speech-language pathology. We elected to analyze the websites of Longwood University, Old Dominion University, and Radford University to propose changes to Imagination University’s website. We developed a survey asking prospective students what they value in a graduate program website to determine the criteria results to include in our report. The research we conducted met course learning outcome three. We presented our findings to the class in a 15 minute presentation. During the presentation we acted as University Consultants and the class acted as Imagination University. We presented our findings and suggestions for improvement. We then fielded questions from the audience and addressed them appropriately. Several questions asked concerned our personal opinions of how to incorporate our survey results into a website design. Our presentation included a powerpoint with examples from the numerous websites to illustrate our points. Our complete presentation addressed course learning outcome five. Completing the formal report and presentation in a group represents course learning outcome six. Overall, this assignment taught me how to effectively present research findings in a presentation and incorporate findings in a report.
