Music 331: History of Music I

This was a frightening course to walk into…I am not skilled or talented in any form of the arts, so a music class seemed extremely out of reach for me. I was up for the challenge, but held on to the fact that this was a history course, and hopefully not a music course. To my surprise, I found this class enjoyable and I left feeling like I knew something. I greatly appreciated the lecture style of the course, I was able to take thorough notes that I needed to study for the quizzes and tests. The course was built around a year-long project that was tedious, and sometimes even frustrating, but at the end I felt accomplished and knowledgable not only about my topic, but also on MLA writing, research, and citations. I was most proud of the listening parts of the tests because prior to taking this course,  I would not have been able to recognize the music as historical or the context behind it that makes classic songs so great and known.

Attached is a copy of my final paper. The paper itself is not an exact culmination of the mini-projects leading up to this, but the ideas from those projects are embedded within the paper. FInal Draft
