Honors PHYS 103: Conceptual Physics

The thought of a physics course alone scared me, then I made it an honors course, and it very quickly became my favorite class thus far at Longwood. Dr. Donnelly is a phenomenal professor. She genuinely cares about the well being of her students and valued our time and quality of education greatly. Dr. Donnelly used many unique teaching methods, new styles, and created labs that were fun and educational. Typically a lab can be random or useless, but the labs in this course were designed to truly apply our knowledge to the real world and helped us prepare for the exams by helping us understand the concepts in a much better way.

Dr. Donnelly used my class as a test run for a new examination method. We were placed into groups for one exam and we were given a research question. The question posed was about aviation, not something we covered in this course, but we knew enough basic physics to work ourselves through an entire research paper. This kind of application is what made this course so special. We were able to do things we never thought we could do.
