Correspondence

Reflection:

The bad news letter and persuasive letter let me practice writing professional documents that are commonly found in the professional world, use plain English, and to create professional documents that use designs. In each case, writing for the audience played a huge role. When it came to professional writing, the only experience I previously had was academic writing which mostly relied on facts with little to no room for ethos or pathos. In the event that I was able to write persuasively, it was my job to convince others by stating my opinions and feelings. However, when writing these letters, I had to assess the feelings of the target audience and makeĀ themĀ feel heard while still getting my point across. Especially with the bad news letter, I struggled to shift my mindset to be able to address the audience appropriately, even with the aid of the textbook. The exercises we practiced in class really helped prepare me to write the final product.
