Reflection:
Writing the press release allowed me to practice writing documents commonly found in the professional world, that use plain English and design, conducting research, and participating productively in collaborative projects. I have always enjoyed writing and often find myself excessively elaborating and occasionally getting sidetracked. Knowing which part of the document I had to write, I started working on the google doc without looking very closely at the example. I soon had a large, flowery paragraph and went to compare it to my notes; 90% of what I had written was unnecessary, but more importantly, it wasn’t appropriate for the style of this document. It required me to pay more attention to formatting, write concisely and clearly, and to rely on my notes and textbook.
