I took this class fall of 2016.
Longwood Seminar is a class designed to help Freshman students transition into Longwood and understand what they need for their major. Most students are placed in an LSEM the corresponds with their major. Those LSEM’s are individually designed to accommodate and help each major prepare for the next four years. My situation was a little different. I was placed in an honors LSEM. We learned more about the history of Longwood as well as the different resources we could use around campus more than our majors since we were all different majors. While I did learn some valuable things from that class, I do feel like it would have been more helpful to be in an LSEM of my major.
Below is an attached copy of one if the essays I wrote for this class. This one specifically was based on the book our entire freshman class read for their LSEM’s. The book is “Tension City” and was about various presidential debates throughout history. This book was picked because Longwood hosted the 2016 Vice Presidential Debate this past year.
