U.S. History Colonial-1877 (HIST 221)

U.S. History Colonial-1877

By far my favorite Gen Ed class I took my first semester, for Goal 8 I took HIST 221 with Dr. Coles. This class covers the birth of America to the Civil War, which is continued with HIST 222, which I took my second semester. This class went into far more detail than I had ever been taught in high school, changing my views on things that had happened differently than I had known. I truly enjoyed every second of this class, and Dr. Coles is such a great professor, so it really helped assure me that I picked the right major.

The artifact that I chose for this class is one of the written assignments that we had to do for class. These papers got me much better at pulling out the information I wanted out of the sources and writing them into the papers. The papers also helped me be better and expressing my opinion and backing it up with information from the sources. It also helped me start off with stronger grades in the next half of this class when I took it the next semester.
