Scholarship
In the Honors College, scholarship does not mean which scholarships you have been granted for the school year, but rather the academic work done here at Longwood. Not only is it taking the classes required for your major, but it is taking new perspective on those classes by choosing an honors section of that class or enhancing it to fit an Honors course.
The unique classes offered by the Honors College are a way to step out of one’s normal course of classes and take something one usually might not have thought to take. I took a class in Love, Sex, and Friendship, and though it was not something I would have usually taken, it eventually became a class I truly felt was a great experience. I was provided with an opportunity to read philosophical works and relate them to the topics being covered from my own perspective. Like this class, the others offered by the Honors College provide interesting and worthwhile experiences. With things like paper making and a class on Frankenstein, the Honors College truly provides an amazing academic experience.
