Goal 9 Anthropology 101
Dr. Jordan’s Introduction to Anthropology course taught me the multitude of ways that people today can interact with history. We went on a field trip to Hull Springs Farm for three days at the beginning of the semester. We explored houses of wealthy land owners, slave grave yards, tabernacles, and much more. Many people feel as if history is predominately found in books and on paper, and i felt this way too until I took Dr. Jordan’s class. I learned more about the history of Virginia on that three day trip than I ever could have through reading a book. Dr. Jordan would speak about the hallucinations that would come over people during religious ceremonies while we were ringing the bell that people who lived hundreds of years ago would ring if they saw the devil. I was in awe over the realization that history was tangible and it was all around us.
